It sits inside the Caminos del Vino, in a residential quarter fifteen kilometres from Mendoza city, close enough for excursions to wineries and museums. What separates it from other stays nearby is Viña Lares, its own garage winery in Luján de Cuyo; guests are invited daily to taste wines the family makes itself, in a deliberately intimate, unhurried setting. The restaurant, Lares Cocina de Hogar, runs an à la carte menu every night, and rooms come with an indoor fireplace, air conditioning and cable TV. A short path connects the main hotel to Casa Vita, a six-room guest house with its own garden pool and a wood-burning fireplace in the lounge, built for guests who want privacy without stepping outside the spirit of the main house. Staff speak English, Spanish and Portuguese, and the hotel can arrange an airport transfer with a private driver for a fee. This suits couples and travellers whose priority is wine over amenities, comfortable with two floors and no lift; it does not suit anyone booking for children under twelve, since the hotel will not take reservations for them, or guests who need step-free access throughout. What lingers here is not the pool but the glass poured a few steps from your room, from grapes grown down the same road you drove in on.
