At El Colibri - Estancia de Charme, gauchos bring horses in from the plains of Santa Catalina as light drops over the Sierras de Córdoba, and the day closes around an asado shared in the estancia's restaurant. Set on a working estate about seven kilometres from the city, the property keeps its footprint small: nine rooms on a single floor, each one different. The Colibri Suite runs to 105 square metres, with a private terrace, two fireplaces and a jacuzzi bathroom facing the sierras. La Maison, a 600 square metre villa that was once the owners' own family home, sits apart from the main house with five bedrooms, three bathrooms and a private pool, useful for a family or a wedding party that wants a whole house rather than a wing of someone else's hotel. That villa, more than the spa with its sauna, steam room and outdoor pool, is what separates El Colibri from other estancia stays in the region. Days run on horse riding, hiking, cycling and fishing; mornings can start in the fitness area or a yoga session, and the concierge desk handles laundry, dry-cleaning and tour bookings. Staff answer in English and Spanish. A family room and children's television keep younger guests occupied, though this is not a hotel for anyone chasing nightlife or a city-centre address, and pets are not permitted on the grounds. An extra bed runs 180 USD a night, worth knowing before booking a suite for three. What lingers afterward is less the list of amenities than the rhythm of the place: horses, fire, asado, and then it starts again the next morning. El Colibri is a nine-room estancia near Córdoba's Sierras with La Maison, a private 600 square metre villa with its own pool and five bedrooms. Days run on horse riding, asado and a jacuzzi suite, better suited to families or a wedding party than anyone chasing nightlife.

The Colibrí Suite

La Maison, the Owners' Former Home
Built by a local architect in 2003, La Maison was the family home of owners Raoul and Stéphanie Fenestraz for many years. The 600 square metre villa sits within the same estate, offering five bedrooms, a private pool overlooking the Santa Catalina River, and interiors adorned with works by renowned Argentinean painters.
