THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Taj Falaknuma Palace
Two thousand feet above Hyderabad, on a hilltop where the Nizam once surveyed his kingdom, the Taj Falaknuma Palace still carries the scale of the man who built it in 1894, reputed to be the richest person alive at the time. The 60 rooms and suites are spread across just two floors, so it feels closer to a private residence than a hotel processing guests. Historical Suites keep the original city-facing windows, Royal Suites run to 700 square feet with garden views, and the Standard rooms still open onto manicured lawns rather than a corridor. Two specialty restaurants and a bar sit alongside an outdoor pool, a library, billiards, and a Jiva Spa with steam room, sauna, and massage treatments, while a conference hall and business center cover meetings without needing to leave the grounds. Families get a playroom, a children's pool, and a kids club; couples get a fireplace in some rooms and a terrace built for watching the city light up below. What no comparable Hyderabad hotel can claim is the building itself: this is the actual palace, EarthCheck certified for its sustainability practices, not a modern property borrowing palace imagery. It sits roughly 15 kilometers from the airport and 8 from the city center, so this suits travelers who want the destination to be the hotel itself, not a base for hopping between meetings. Anyone who needs to stay in the city center, or who is traveling with a pet, should look elsewhere. Check-in is at 2pm, checkout at noon, and extra beds run 5,450 rupees a night. The view from that hill does not change with the season, and neither does the impression it leaves. Perched 2,000 feet above Hyderabad in the Nizam's 1894 palace, the Taj Falaknuma Palace holds only 60 rooms, two restaurants, and a Jiva Spa. It suits those who want the hotel itself to be the destination, not travelers who need to stay in the city center.

Among the palace's recreational facilities is an outdoor swimming pool, sitting within the hilltop grounds of the former Nizam residence high above Hyderabad. Paired with the property's spa and fitness facilities, the pool offers a quiet place to unwind after exploring the palace's historic halls and staircases.
Babysitting and a children's playroom are offered for younger guests.
The palace houses two specialty restaurants and a bar.
