THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Bulgari Resort Bali by Bulgari Hotels & Resorts
Every one of the 64 accommodations at Bulgari Resort Bali is a standalone villa with its own private pool, spread over a single floor along the cliffs of Pecatu on Bali's Bukit Peninsula, four hundred metres above Nyang Nyang Beach and roughly six kilometres from Uluwatu Temple. The One Bedroom Ocean View Villa runs to 3,229 square feet, its full double bed facing the sea, with a private bathroom and a pool that belongs to no one else; the three-bedroom residences sleep families of seven, each still with a pool of its own. Built in 2005, the resort never added floors or shared corridors, only more villas and a private beach reached by a complimentary transfer down the cliff. Days move between the spa's massages and facials, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, gym and yoga, and Sangkar Restaurant's international menu, backed by two further restaurants, a bar, a poolside bar and 24-hour room service for anyone who would rather stay put. A chapel sits on site for weddings, and two meeting rooms handle the rare traveller mixing business with the Bukit cliffs. Couples sharing a room should carry a marriage certificate; it is still asked for here. This suits people who want a pool that is genuinely theirs and do not mind being a taxi ride from anywhere else; it will feel remote and slow to anyone chasing nightlife or a walkable town. What the resort's neighbours on the cliff cannot match is the layout itself, sixty-four villas, one floor, every single one with its own pool, plus the free ride down to a beach most Bukit hotels only look at from above. All 64 villas at Bulgari Resort Bali have private pools, spread over a single floor on Pecatu's cliffs above Nyang Nyang Beach. Suits travellers who want their own pool and do not mind a drive to Uluwatu Temple; not for anyone wanting nightlife on the doorstep.
