THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Piz Buin, A Swiss Quality Hotel
Piz Buin has stood in Klosters-Serneus since 1950, four floors and 53 rooms set two kilometers from the village center, close enough to Lake Davos, the Rapid Ski Lift and Parsenn Ski Resort that skis and boots make sense by the front door before breakfast. The hotel runs a ski shuttle and its own ski school, stores equipment overnight, sells passes at reception, and arranges airport transfers for guests arriving without a car. What separates it from the smaller pensions nearby is the range kept under one roof: an indoor pool and a heated outdoor pool, a spa tub, sauna, steam room and solarium, massage on request, and a doctor on call, a detail that matters more on a ski trip than most amenity lists admit. Rooms hold to the expected comforts, bathrobe, slippers, a bathtub or shower, a minibar, and some are soundproofed against the foot traffic a 53-room property generates. Families get a playroom and babysitting, and the hotel takes dogs, so this reads less like a couples' retreat and more like a base for groups who want the slopes by day and don't mind a nightclub somewhere below by night. Travelers chasing quiet might find the children's playground and the scale more than they bargained for. A restaurant, bar, cafe and snack bar cover meals without a walk into town, and in summer hiking and cycling take over outdoors, while the golf course three kilometers out and the tennis court pick up the traffic the slopes lose in the off season. It is a mid-century ski hotel that has kept adding rather than replacing, and the additions show. A mid-century ski hotel in Klosters-Serneus with an indoor and heated outdoor pool, a spa tub, sauna and doctor on call, rare company for a 53-room property. It suits groups who want slopes by day and a nightclub by night, pets included; quiet-seekers should look elsewhere.

Piz Buin sits at the meeting point of mountains, river and village square in Klosters, just minutes from the train station. Aerial views show the chalet-style hotel set against the Graubünden peaks, with the river running past the property and easy reach of the village centre and nearby ski lifts.
