THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
COMO Metropolitan Bangkok
On the ground floor of COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, Chef Pim Techamuanvivit runs nahm, the Thai restaurant that has held nine consecutive Michelin stars, a distinction few hotel kitchens anywhere can claim. Everything above it stays deliberately unshowy: 137 rooms spread across eleven floors, each finished in calm, monochromatic tones with tactile materials and pared-back design rather than ornament. COMO Shambhala runs the wellness side, with massage rooms, a sauna, a steam room, a spa tub, an indoor pool and an outdoor one, plus yoga and a fitness centre for guests who would rather move than lie still. A second kitchen, COMO Cuisine, covers all-day dining with vegetarian and gluten-free options, and in-room menus draw on COMO Shambhala's own healthful dishes rather than standard room service fare. The hotel sits between the river and the Sukhumvit district, six kilometres from central Bangkok, close enough to walk to Silom Complex and Thaniya Plaza, with Patpong Night Market, BTS and MRT stations nearby and Suvarnabhumi Airport forty minutes away by car. Families booking one of the larger Metropolitan King rooms can fit up to four adults and three children, and the hotel arranges babysitting and highchairs on request. Staff speak English and Chinese, and the property is LGBTQ+ friendly. This suits someone who wants a genuinely serious kitchen attached to a room built for actual rest, not a hotel chosen for its lobby. It does not suit anyone who came to Bangkok for its energy first, since that stays a short ride away rather than at the door. COMO Metropolitan Bangkok pairs a Thai kitchen holding nine consecutive Michelin stars with a hushed, monochromatic design hotel and a full COMO Shambhala spa. It suits travelers who want serious food and real quiet together, not those chasing Bangkok's nightlife right outside the door.

Guests can unwind at the hotel's outdoor pool and adjoining sun deck, a favourite spot during the festive season when flame-grilled skewers and refreshing drinks are served poolside daily. It offers a quieter counterpoint to the surrounding energy of Bangkok's Sathorn district just steps away.
