THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Rosewood Abu Dhabi Hotel
Rosewood Abu Dhabi sits inside a 34-story tower on Al Maryah Island, wedged between the Sowwah Square business district and the Cleveland Clinic, so the Arabian Gulf and the city skyline share the view from its upper rooms. Built in 2013, the hotel holds 189 rooms finished with Middle Eastern architectural details and a warm, region-inspired palette, and the higher categories, the Waterfront Executive and Manor Waterfront Club rooms, look out over water rather than road. What sets it apart from other business-district hotels is the kitchen garden: a hydroponic growing operation and an artisanal bakery on site supply produce across nine restaurants and bars, from Em Sherif to Dai Pai Dong to the sunset-view Hidden Bar. A short walk covers Abu Dhabi Mall, the Fish Market and the Corniche, which rewards guests who like to explore on foot rather than call for a car. The Manor Club lounge, with discreet service and food throughout the day, gives business guests a quieter alternative to the main lobby, while Sense Spa, an indoor and outdoor pool, a gym and yoga studio cover recovery time between meetings. Families are considered rather than tolerated, with a kids' club, a playground, babysitting and suites built for groups, so this is not run purely as an adults' retreat. Anyone hoping for old-town Abu Dhabi charm or a quiet residential setting should look elsewhere; this is a business-district address for people whose days run from meetings to spa to skyline dinner. Extra beds, airport transfers and the daily security deposit are billed separately, and a physical Emirates ID or passport is required at check-in. A 34-story tower on Al Maryah Island's business district, with 189 rooms and nine restaurants fed partly by its own hydroponic garden. Built for trips that end at Sense Spa, not for anyone chasing old Abu Dhabi charm.
