Rosewood Mayakoba sits within 1,600 acres of jungle, mangroves, and lagoons along the Riviera Maya, about 30 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. The resort is built into the landscape rather than on top of it—waterways connect the property, and you'll travel between your suite, restaurants, and beach by boat or walking paths through the mangroves. It's a completely different approach than the typical beachfront tower, and it changes the entire experience of being here. The suites are freestanding or grouped in small clusters, which gives you actual privacy. Most have plunge pools on private decks that overlook lagoons or jungle. The interiors mix contemporary Mexican design with natural materials—polished concrete, local woods, floor-to-ceiling windows that blur the line between inside and out. Bathrooms are indoor-outdoor with rain showers open to private gardens. The overwater suites extend into the lagoon on stilts and are worth the splurge if you're celebrating something.
