The rooms are unapologetically intimate, some would say tiny, we'd say perfectly formed. Original mosaic-tiled bathrooms, brass fixtures, and velvet headboards create a jewel-box effect that makes you feel like a very chic guest in someone's extremely well-appointed apartment. The corner suites offer just enough breathing room without sacrificing the cozy-glamorous tension that defines the place. Downstairs, Margon serves moody, candlelit French bistro fare that locals guard jealously (the steak frites at the bar is non-negotiable). The lobby-lounge has that rare quality of feeling simultaneously timeless and utterly of-the-moment, you could settle in with a book or eavesdrop on the next table's screenplay pitch, and either would feel exactly right. The location is prime Village positioning: Washington Square Park for morning coffee runs, the best vintage shopping on Bleecker, and enough literary history soaked into the sidewalks to justify any number of contemplative walks. This isn't a hotel for people who need a gym or a concierge desk the size of a car dealership.
