THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais
At Villa Cordevigo Wine Relais, six beehives work the same hundred-hectare estate as the vines, twenty-three hectares of which are certified organic, producing honey and propolis alongside wine bottled under the villa's own label by Villabella, the winery that owns the property. The house itself is an eighteenth-century patrician villa near Cavaion Veronese, a Relais & Chateaux address with 38 rooms spread across two floors, a short drive from both Verona and Lake Garda. Chef Marco Marras runs the estate's two restaurants, the Michelin-starred Oseleta and the more relaxed Cordevigo, cooking with produce and wine grown a few hundred metres from the kitchen door. That combination, a working organic vineyard with a Michelin kitchen on the same ground, is not something the hotels scattered around the lake or inside Verona's old town can offer. Rooms run from a Standard Room up to the Honeymoon Suite, most looking over garden or courtyard rather than road, and a chapel on the grounds makes the villa a genuine option for a wedding rather than just a stopover. The spa has a sauna, steam room, massage treatments and a spa tub, and the outdoor pool is open June through September, which matters if a swim is part of the plan. This suits a couple settling in for a few slow days of wine and one serious dinner, or a small wedding party wanting the grounds to themselves. It suits less anyone chasing a lively pool in April or wanting to walk to Verona's sights each morning. Bicycles are free to borrow for the hills toward the lake, and most guests leave with a bottle of the estate's own wine rather than a postcard. Villa Cordevigo pairs an eighteenth-century villa with its own organic vineyard and a Michelin-starred kitchen, a combination few hotels near Lake Garda or Verona can match. The pool runs June to September, and it suits a slow wine break or small wedding more than a lively lakeside week.

As part of its sustainability programme, Villa Cordevigo keeps six beehives on its grounds, each housing about 50,000 bees that produce honey, propolis, royal jelly and honeycombs. The initiative supports biodiversity and pollination across the surrounding organic vineyards and olive groves, reflecting the estate's long-standing commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.
