Locanda al Colle
In the Suite Colle, the scent of currants and juniper drifts in from a private terrace, and on cooler evenings guests move into a sitting room warmed by a real fireplace before climbing into a four-poster canopy bed dressed in grey and beige linen, with two separate bathrooms behind separate doors. That kind of detail runs through Locanda al Colle, a restored farmhouse on a hillside above Camaiore with only twelve rooms, each one dressed in vintage and Art Déco furniture from the 1940s through the 1970s. What sets it apart from other small Tuscan guesthouses is the art: sculptures by contemporary artists working near Pietrasanta, a town that has drawn marble and bronze carvers since the 1800s, are placed through the corridors and gardens as part of the owner's own growing collection, and pieces are for sale. The restaurant opens only on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, so guests who want dinner delivered nightly should look elsewhere; those who stay tend to fill the gaps with a wine-tasting drive to Montecarlo or Bolgheri, a cooking class in the house kitchen, or a massage. There is a heated salt-water pool, a whirlpool among the olive trees, a lift for guests who prefer not to take the stairs, and staff who switch comfortably between English, Italian, French, German and Spanish. Dogs are welcome in the rooms with their own outdoor space. The property runs from late March to October and closes over winter, so this suits someone planning a spring or autumn trip rather than a December escape. A cleaning tax is charged separately at the hotel, on top of the room rate. A twelve-room farmhouse above Camaiore where contemporary sculpture sits alongside vintage furniture and a private terrace suite. Dinner only happens twice a week, so plan around the wine tastings and marble-quarry visits instead. Closed each winter, it suits travelers chasing quiet over convenience.

An open-air, salt-water pool heated to 32 degrees Celsius runs from April through October, set among olive trees with views toward the Versilia coast. A large whirlpool nearby lets guests unwind further amid the blossoms, making the pool area a quiet centerpiece of a stay at this hillside farmhouse property.
