Mezzatorre Resort & SPA
On Ischia's western shore, Mezzatorre Resort & SPA occupies a private cove where a 16th-century watchtower now houses a Wellness Centre & Thermal Spa with three hydrotherapy pools, a detail no other resort on this stretch of coast can match. The 52 rooms and suites split between the old tower and garden cottages, set across a seven-hectare park of Mediterranean maquis that runs down to the Gulf of Naples, three kilometres from Forio d'Ischia's centre and close to San Montano Beach, Villa La Mortella and its gardens. Two restaurants, a sauna, steam room, massage rooms and a solarium sit alongside an outdoor heated pool and an indoor one, while the private beach opens onto snorkelling, diving and other water sports. Guests who want to move can book the tennis court, the gym or a bike through the grounds; those who would rather sit still can watch the sea from the sun deck instead. Children get their own playroom and babysitting on request, which frees the evenings for the adults, and pets under five kilograms are welcome for a surcharge. Green Globe certification backs the sustainability claims with an actual audit rather than a badge. This suits people who want a working spa built into centuries-old stone and grounds quiet enough to hear the water, not those chasing a lively strip or a downtown address. The hotel also keeps a short season, open only from spring into autumn each year, then closed. Owned by the Pellicano family, who found this cove on Ischia impossible to pass over once they had seen it, Mezzatorre still runs more like a private estate that happens to take guests than a hotel with a lobby. Mezzatorre pairs a 16th-century watchtower spa with three hydrotherapy pools and a private cove on Ischia's west coast, something few resorts nearby can offer. It suits travelers after quiet, centuries-old stone and sea views, not those wanting Forio's center or a year-round address, since the hotel closes each winter.

The hotel's rooms and cottages sit within a seven-hectare park of Mediterranean scrubland leading down to Mezzatorre's own private cove on the Gulf of Naples. The rocky promontory setting gives direct, exclusive sea access rarely found on the island, away from Ischia's public beaches.
Bikes can be rented and nearby hiking trails explored from the property.
Airport transfer and car rental can be arranged through the resort.
Pets under 5 kg are welcome for an additional fee.
Lift access and accessible rooms serve guests with mobility needs.
