The wellness centre here is reserved exclusively for whoever books it, so there's no rota of strangers sharing the jacuzzi, sauna and emotional shower, only a candlelit room to yourself with prosecco and fresh fruit afterward. One room, the 'Quattrocuori' Suite, comes with a private outdoor pool at its door, useful on days when the eight-minute walk to the shore feels like one errand too many. Ask at the desk about the boat trips the hotel arranges to Marzamemi, Vendicari and the coast around Portopalo, with a skipper or without, for up to eight people, a full day or half of one, with stops for swimming along the way. This suits a couple who would rather spend an evening choosing between beaches, Calamosche, San Lorenzo, the livelier stretch at Carratois, than choosing between restaurants in a hotel lobby, and families booking one of the quadruple rooms built for four. It will not suit anyone chasing nightlife or a property with enough scale to disappear into; seven rooms means the staff will know your name by the second morning. Marzamemi's old tuna works and harbourside square sit four kilometres off, close enough for dinner and far enough to still feel like an outing. A cleaning charge is billed separately at the hotel, and pets travel for ten euros a day.
