This is a working wine farm outside Montalcino, in the hamlet of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, facing the Orcia river with Mount Amiata rising beyond the vineyards. Eleven rooms, each different, form an artistic project by Vittorio Corsini: names like Oliveta, Orcia, Orto and Vigneto are drawn from patches of land glimpsed from the window, each paired with a poem and artisanal materials chosen to match. Three of these rooms can combine, via a shared living room, into a suite for up to eight. The pool is heated, open seasonally from May to October, and built with an infinity edge said to mirror the rhythm of the countryside below; a spa tub, sauna and small gym cover the rest of the wellness side. The wine list moves from established Brunello di Montalcino houses to the estate's own Mastrojanni bottles, an experience the cellar describes as unfolding glass by glass. Staff speak several languages, including Turkish, and pets travel with their owners here. There is no elevator anywhere on the property, worth flagging for anyone with heavy luggage or limited mobility, even though the restaurant itself is wheelchair accessible.
