Hotel Masseria Il Melograno
Olive groves still ring the old farmhouse walls at Hotel Masseria Il Melograno, a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property four kilometres outside Monopoli, within walking distance of Port'Alga, the Grotta Stampagnata and St Anthony Church. Only 40 rooms sit across two low floors, a scale that lets the hotel run a genuine wellness circuit of sauna, steam room, massage room and spa, alongside three ways to swim: an outdoor pool, a heated pool and an indoor one, plus a private beach reached by a free transfer. Divers and snorkellers have a club on site rather than a desk that books one elsewhere; cyclists get bike storage and rentals for the coastal roads; anyone who wants to sit still has a library and a picnic area under the olive trees. Kitchens cover gluten-free, vegetarian and diet menus without fuss, and staff switch between English, Italian, French, German and Spanish as needed. This suits a couple or small group who want Puglia's countryside without giving up spa treatments and a proper restaurant, and who don't mind driving into Monopoli for nightlife rather than finding it at the door. It is less suited to anyone chasing a beach-first resort with direct sand access from the room, since the shore is a shuttle away. Pets travel too, for a 50 euro deposit per stay. What sets it apart from the area's other converted masseria-style hotels is that Small Luxury Hotels of the World membership, a mark of consistent independent-hotel standards rather than a chain's house style. Bari and Brindisi airports are both a short drive away, which keeps arrival simple even when the setting feels remote. Forty rooms wrapped in olive groves outside Monopoli, with three pools, a private beach and its own dive club, rare for a Puglia countryside stay. It suits travelers who want spa time and a real restaurant without living beachside, not those who need sand right outside the room.

Guests can cool off in a choice of pools, including an outdoor pool and a separate indoor pool, both set within the masseria's countryside grounds. Beach facilities are also available nearby, giving guests an easy way to combine a swim on the estate with the Puglian coastline just minutes away.
On-site restaurant, bar and cafe serve guests
