THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Colegio Charm House
Check-in at Colegio Charm House is 4pm sharp, timed so the light in the walled garden has already gone soft by the time the private welcome is done. The building is a restored 250-year-old college in Tavira's old town, close enough to walk to Camera Obscura, Casa das Portas and the salt pans toward Quatro Águas, and its own chapel is still standing, a detail no other property in the area can claim. Only 19 rooms are spread across four floors, so the terrace, garden and shared kitchen never feel crowded, and the staff, who speak English and Spanish, handle check-in privately rather than at a front desk. Days run on breakfast, then the choice of restaurant, bar or poolside bar, with packed lunches and a diet menu on request for anyone working around allergies or schedules. Evenings pull toward the sauna, hammam and massage room, or a slower loop through the library, a game of mini-golf or the barbecue area outside. A concierge desk arranges tours and transfers, laundry and luggage storage cover the practical end, and the front desk will exchange currency or point guests to the nearby ATM and shops. This suits someone who wants a boutique house with real history rather than a chain lobby, who is happy walking to dinner rather than driving to it. It will frustrate anyone who wants a sprawling resort with endless facilities on one site. What lands, in the end, is the chapel: a small, unmarketed reminder that this building was something else long before it was a hotel, and that Tavira has been letting travelers borrow its past for a while. Colegio Charm House is a 250-year-old college in Tavira turned 19-room hotel, walking distance from Camera Obscura and the old salt pans, with its own chapel still on site. It suits couples who want history over a chain lobby, not anyone chasing a big resort with endless extras.

Past guests single out the hotel's terrace as a highlight, recalling live music there at the close of the day. Paired with the property's own garden and outdoor furniture, it gives the house a relaxed, sociable evening spot distinct from its formal dining areas.
Cribs can be provided on request for guests travelling with babies.
Breakfast is served from 8:30am with no fixed finishing time.
Late check-out can be requested and the property will try to accommodate it, subject to availability.
