THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Grand Victoria Hotel
Grand Victoria Hotel sits in the Dazhi Miramar business district of Taipei's Chungshan District, where a Victorian-style bell tower and terraced LED lighting mark an English wedding garden the hotel calls the largest of its kind hidden within the city. The 96 rooms and suites, spread across ten floors, are furnished with Philippe Starck's transparent Louis Ghost armchairs and lamps from Italy's Artemide Melampo line, while bathrooms are split into wet and dry zones fitted with handcrafted faucets from Germany. The address suits business travellers heading to the Neihu science and technology park or the Hsichi and Nankang industrial districts as much as leisure guests bound for the East District's shops, with Taipei Songshan and Taoyuan International airports both a short drive away. On site, N°168 PRIME steakhouse carries a Michelin Guide Taipei recommendation, LA FESTA leans into an Italian, Siena-inspired dining room, and Xi Garden serves Cantonese-rooted Chinese cuisine, so dinner rarely requires leaving the building. The outdoor pool runs seasonally from May to October, and staff move comfortably between Chinese, English and Japanese. Families should note that parking comes with height restrictions and that the pool is closed outside its summer window. Since January 2025, Taiwan's waste rules mean disposable toiletries such as toothbrushes and razors are no longer automatically supplied, so pack your own or ask at the desk. A 1,000 TWD daily deposit is collected at check-in to cover potential damages. What separates Grand Victoria from the tech offices and industrial parks around it is that garden, an English-style grounds spread over four ceremony sites, planted into a district built for science and engineering. Grand Victoria pairs a Victorian-style bell tower and Taipei's largest English garden with a Michelin-recommended steakhouse, all inside the Dazhi tech and business district. Ninety-six rooms carry Philippe Starck furniture and German-made bath fixtures, a short drive from either city airport. The seasonal pool runs May to October only.
