THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Kimpton Da An Hotel
Da An district settles into quiet fast once the shops close, and Kimpton Da An Hotel sits within walking distance of the center, a fifteen-floor build finished in 2019 that still feels new rather than lived-in. Arrive with a dog on a leash and nobody blinks, pets are allowed throughout, and the garden terrace off the lobby, furnished with outdoor seating, gives a place to sit before heading up. The 129 rooms are soundproofed, with blackout blinds, a mini bar, bathrobe and slippers as standard; the premium king and twin rooms run 398 square feet, generous by central Taipei standards. A small gym covers the basics, the bar and restaurant handle the rest, and coffee and tea are on hand through the day. Staff move between Chinese and English without missing a beat, and concierge, laundry, dry cleaning and a safe-deposit box are handled without fuss; airport transportation can be arranged on request. What she won't find is turndown toiletries: Taiwan's 2025 rule against disposable amenities means shower caps, toothbrushes and razors are gone from the bathroom, so packing her own is not optional. An extra bed runs 1,600 TWD a night, a damage deposit of 2,000 TWD is taken at check-in, and English breakfast is billed separately at roughly 715 TWD. None of this suits someone who wants hotel toiletries waiting in the bathroom, or parking to fit anything oversized, since height restrictions apply. It suits someone traveling with a pet, working late near Da An, or wanting rooms new enough that the walls actually block sound, who packs her own toothbrush without needing reminding. In Da An, a fifteen-floor Kimpton built in 2019 where pets are welcome, rooms are soundproofed, and the garden terrace gives you a place to sit before you head up. Bring your own toothbrush: Taiwan's 2025 rule against disposable toiletries means the bathroom no longer stocks them.

THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT

Your taste already has an address

Designed by Neri & Hu, the hotel sits on a quiet lane in Da'an District and reads more like a private residence than a typical hotel, deliberately balancing tradition and modernity across its 129 rooms. The design stands apart from the frenetic pace of the surrounding city, giving guests a calmer retreat within reach of Da'an Forest Park.
