THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Okura Prestige Bangkok
The Okura Prestige Bangkok rises 34 floors directly above Ploenchit BTS Skytrain station, in the middle of the city's business district, yet the triple-glazed, tinted windows in all 240 rooms and suites keep the platform announcements and traffic outside where they belong, cutting both heat and noise. It is Okura Hotels' Japanese property in Thailand, and that identity runs deeper than the name: Yukata robes are set up in Club and suite rooms, and Yamazato serves kaiseki and sushi in a restaurant recognised by the Michelin Guide Thailand 2025. What competitors in this part of Bangkok cannot match is Elements, inspired by Ciel Bleu, a dining room awarded one star in the Michelin Guide Thailand 2026, open Wednesday to Sunday for dinner only, with last orders at 9:30pm. Up & Above, on the 24th floor, keeps a half-moon terrace bar going from six in the morning to midnight and adds a Sunday brunch; La Patisserie handles the French bakery end of things on weekdays. The pool sits on the 25th floor, cantilevered over the street below, with a separate indoor pool for guests who want laps without an audience. Staff switch between Chinese, English and Japanese without being asked. A short walk covers Erawan Shrine, Gaysorn Amarin and Erawan Mall. Club level guests get their own lounge, twice-daily laundry pressing and a spa discount. Pets are not allowed, and an extra bed costs 2,000 THB a night. None of this reads as boutique, and it isn't trying to. It reads as a hotel built for people who know exactly what a Michelin star and a quiet window are worth. Thirty-four floors above Ploenchit Skytrain station, this Japanese hotel pairs a Michelin-starred dining room with a 25th-floor pool built to make the traffic below feel distant. It suits travellers who want proof over promises, not those hunting a boutique, low-rise stay.

On the 24th floor, Up & Above pairs all-day dining with a half-moon bar terrace overlooking Bangkok, open from 06:00 to 24:00 on a first-come, first-served basis. Afternoon tea runs from 14:00 to 17:00, and the restaurant's Sense of Sunday Brunch is a signature weekend draw for guests.
