THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Siam
The Siam sits on three acres of garden along the Chao Phraya River in Dusit, Bangkok's old royal district, where a fifteen-minute walk reaches the Vimanmek Teak Palace Museum and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha sits in the same historic quarter; guests can also arrive by the hotel's own river shuttle boat instead of fighting traffic by taxi. Only 38 rooms are spread across three floors, and the hotel carries three Michelin Keys, the guide's rating for exceptional stays rather than food, a distinction none of Bangkok's larger riverside towers hold. Each suite is individually furnished with turn-of-the-century Thai antiques and paired with its own butler. Days move between an indoor and an outdoor pool, a fitness room, yoga classes, and Opium Spa's saunas and steam rooms; evenings shift toward Chon Thai Restaurant for regional Thai cooking or Deco Bar & Bistro, an Art Deco jazz room with live music and Prohibition-era cocktails. A library and garden terrace keep the grounds quiet. This suits a traveler who wants Bangkok's temples and museums within walking distance and doesn't need a skyline view to feel like she has arrived; it will read as sleepy to anyone chasing nightlife or a resort-scale pool deck. Families should know children under 12 need adult supervision at the pool and gym, guests under 5 aren't permitted in the spa, and pets aren't allowed at all. What stays with guests after checkout isn't the antiques or the Michelin Keys, but the sense that Bangkok's noise stopped at the garden gate. The Siam holds three Michelin Keys and just 38 rooms, several suites individually furnished with antiques and paired with a butler, on three riverside acres in Bangkok's Dusit quarter. It suits travelers who want walkable history over a pool-deck scene; pets aren't allowed.

Set on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, The Siam operates its own pier with a scheduled shuttle boat service, bookable by calling the hotel directly. Arriving or departing by boat offers a scenic, unhurried alternative to the road, with sunset views over the river framing the historic Dusit district beyond.
