San Miguel de Allende can veer into two extremes. Either hyper charming and impossibly romantic, or slightly overwhelmed by its own popularity. Rosewood manages to sit above that tension, quite literally. Set just outside the very centre, it feels like its own grand hacienda, with courtyards, fountains and terracotta hues that mirror the city’s colonial architecture without feeling theatrical. The scale is generous. High ceilings, carved wood details, stone archways and expansive suites with fireplaces and private terraces. It is polished, but not stiff. You can come here for a long weekend with friends and feel celebratory, or come as a couple and lean into the romance of the setting. The rooftop, with its direct views of the Parroquia, is one of the most coveted sunset spots in town for a reason. What Rosewood does particularly well here is balance. You are close enough to wander into town for galleries, churches and long lunches, but removed enough to retreat into quiet when you need it.
