Sultan Cave Suites
Sunrise at Sultan Cave Suites means climbing to the terrace above Goreme just as hot air balloons begin lifting out of the valleys below, the hotel's position on the historic Aydınlı Tepesi hillside giving all 35 rooms and suites a view that runs past the village rooftops toward the distant slopes of Erciyes Dağı. The rooms are built into centuries-old cave houses once used by local families, and the original stone walls have been kept rather than plastered over, so a Classic Room or a Sultan Suite still reads as a cave rather than a hotel room dressed as one. What sets the property apart from other Goreme cave hotels is Seten Restaurant, opened on site in 2010 and named to the 2026 Michelin Guide, along with an attached Anatolian Culture Center where owner Ali Yavuz programs classical and traditional Turkish music evenings and art exhibitions through the season. Guests can also use the pool and Turkish hamam at the neighboring sister property, Kelebek Cave Hotel, since Sultan Cave Suites itself is built around cave architecture rather than resort facilities. Buffet breakfast is included with every stay, and horseback rides through the Love, Rose and Red valleys can be arranged straight through reception. This suits travelers who want the cave experience without giving up a serious kitchen downstairs, and who don't mind stairs, since there are no elevators and the hillside layout means walking between levels. It suits less well anyone who needs a guaranteed window, since a handful of interior cave rooms have none, though staff will reassign guests who ask. Book a terrace-facing suite and time breakfast for balloon season. A 35-room cave hotel on Goreme's Aydınlı Tepesi hillside, built from centuries-old stone dwellings with original walls intact. Its on-site Seten Restaurant made the 2026 Michelin Guide, and terraces catch the valley's hot air balloons at sunrise. No elevators, and a few interior rooms have no window.
