THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Taskonaklar Hotel Cappadocia
Taskonaklar Hotel sits in the center of Uchisar, close enough to the castle that guests reach it on foot, in a cave carved directly into Cappadocia's volcanic rock rather than built to look like one. The 25 rooms were shaped during a restoration that used local stone and craftsmen rather than importing a design, so the walls keep their original curves and the fireplaces sit where the rock allowed them, not where a blueprint dictated. What sets this hotel apart from the valley's other cave properties is Moniq, its onsite restaurant, which carries a MICHELIN recommendation, an unusual credential for a 25-room hotel outside the main tourist strip. Suites come with private heated outdoor jacuzzis on their own terraces facing the Cappadocia skyline, Nespresso machines and Molton Brown amenities, while the Family Suite adds a hammam corner and two bedrooms for groups who don't want to split across floors. Guests can spend the day at the spa, in the fitness room, or with a massage booked through the front desk, then send children to the on-site playroom while the concierge arranges a transfer or a tour. There's a business center and meeting space for work trips, a library and picnic area for those that aren't, and a doctor on call. Wi-Fi is free throughout, the front desk speaks English and French alongside Turkish and Arabic, and check-in from 3pm gives enough time to settle before dinner. It won't suit anyone chasing a modern high-rise view or a beach; the rooms are cut from a hillside, not built beside a pool. What it does deliver, consistently, is a sense that the building was here before the hotel was. In Uchisar, Taskonaklar's 25 rooms are carved into the same volcanic rock as the hillside around them, and its restaurant Moniq carries a MICHELIN recommendation rarely seen at a cave hotel this size. Suites bring private outdoor jacuzzis and Cappadocia views, while the Family Suite adds a hammam for groups.

The Royal Suite with Jacuzzi places a private, heated outdoor hot tub on its own terrace, looking straight out over Cappadocia's landscape. The suites, ranging from 50 to 70 square metres, add Nespresso machines, bathrobes and Molton Brown amenities, making the terrace jacuzzi the centrepiece of an evening spent watching the view change with the light.
Babysitting and a children's playroom are available.
Bikes can be rented and horse riding can be arranged.
Pets are allowed at the property.
