THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel PURS
Morning at Hotel PURS starts with coffee at the window, the center of Andernach spread out below, close enough to the Mariendom, the Former Synagogue and the Koblenzer Tor to reach any of them on foot. The hotel keeps to eleven rooms and no elevator, small enough that the 24-hour desk, multi-language staff and ticket assistance feel personal rather than routine. What sets it apart from the usual city-center stopover is the range packed into so few rooms: a conference hall and a fitness room sit alongside a garden and terrace, so a work trip and a quiet evening outside do not have to happen at different hotels. Room categories range from the Classic King and Classic Single, where a private bathroom is the only listed amenity, to the Deluxe King with air conditioning, a hairdryer and a TV, up to the Premier King Suite, which adds a safe, telephone, mirror and proper toiletries. Breakfast and a restaurant cover meals on-site, free Wi-Fi and free parking are included, and staff can arrange hiking routes out of town for anyone who wants Andernach from the trail rather than the street. None of this suits travelers who need a lift, want to bring a pet, or plan to add a child's bed without noticing the 75 euro nightly charge. It suits someone who wants a small, well-run base in the middle of a Rhine town, with enough facilities to cover a meeting and a walk, and no interest in a hotel that tries to be more than that. Eleven rooms, no elevator, and a surprising mix of conference hall, fitness room, garden and terrace in central Andernach, steps from the Mariendom and Koblenzer Tor. Rooms run from a bare-bones Classic King to a better-appointed Premier Suite. Skip it if a lift or pet travel matters.

The hotel's bar draws on Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetics, pairing finely balanced cocktails and a curated sake list with dishes such as Scandinavian salmon toast, gilt-head bream sashimi in yuzu vinaigrette, and a wagyu burger with kimchi mayo. It runs daily from late morning into the evening as a relaxed, design-led gathering spot.
