THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel Santa Caterina
A short walk from Amalfi's historic center, perched above the harbor, this late nineteenth century liberty style house has a private beach and its own restaurant, Glicine, which has held a Michelin star for three years running. That combination, a stretch of coast to itself and a kitchen serious enough to be starred, is not something every hotel in this town can claim. Rooms favor restraint over spectacle: hand painted majolica floors, marble bathrooms, balconies opening onto sea or garden. This suits travellers who want quiet over performance, who would rather linger over dinner at the Glicine than chase the coast road's nightlife. It is a poorer fit for anyone hoping for town nightlife on the doorstep, or travelling with a pet, since animals are not permitted here. Sixty six rooms across five floors keep the place from feeling institutional, and staff move between English, Italian, French and Turkish without losing pace. Costs outside the room rate are handled plainly: an extra bed runs 160 euros a night, a one way airport transfer is 200 euros, and cleaning tax, along with any mandatory gala dinner charge common to Italian hotels, is settled directly with the property. As part of the Leading Hotels of the World collection, it draws guests who already know what they want. What stays with you afterward is not the view, though it earns its keep, but the sense of a house that has been doing this a long time and feels no need to make more noise about it. A cliffside house above Amalfi's harbor with its own beach and a Michelin-starred restaurant, Glicine, now three years running. Sixty-six rooms, majolica floors, sea-view balconies, and a staff fluent in four languages. It suits travellers who want quiet over spectacle, not those chasing the coast road's nightlife.

Beyond the pool, the hotel's wellness offering includes a massage room, sauna, solarium and steam bath, giving guests a full spa circuit during their stay. The Amalfi Coast setting adds an extra dimension to treatments, with terraces and water features designed to be enjoyed alongside the coastal scenery.
