THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
One Suite THE GRAND
Every one of the 21 rooms at One Suite THE GRAND faces the sea, which is not a small claim for a hotel this size in Nakijin, five kilometres from the town centre. This is a property built around a single view rather than a checklist of features, and it shows: even the entry-level Oceanfront Room comes with a 431-square-foot footprint and water outside the window, no upgrade required to get what most hotels hold back for suites. There is no elevator, so the absence of crowds tracks with the absence of lifts; guests carry their own bags up, and the trade feels deliberate rather than neglected. The seasonal outdoor pool runs April through October, open from eight in the morning to nine at night, and the sauna and spa take bookings made ahead of arrival rather than walk-ins, which suits travellers who plan a day rather than improvise one. Children twelve and under are not permitted, so this is not a stop for family trips, and anyone chasing nightlife should look toward the city rather than a five-kilometre buffer from it. The restaurant and bar handle the practical evenings, breakfast runs to a Japanese set menu for those who want it, and a fitness room and gym cover the rest. What sets it apart from comparable small hotels nearby is that ocean view is the baseline, not the premium tier: the Premier King Room, the Standard Double or Twin Suite, and the Oceanfront Double or Twin Room all look at the same water, at different price points and floor plans. For a couple wanting a quiet, adults-only base with the sea doing most of the work, that consistency is the point. In Nakijin, five kilometres from town, all 21 rooms at One Suite THE GRAND face the ocean, with no exceptions among room types. There is no elevator, no children under 12, and a seasonal pool open April to October. It suits couples wanting a quiet, view-first stay, not families or night owners.
