THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
W Osaka
Twenty-seven floors rise near Shinsaibashi's shopping arcades, and W Osaka opened only in 2021, which shows in room proportions rare for this city: the standard rooms run 431 square feet, more suite than typical Japanese hotel room. The hotel sits about two kilometers from downtown, an easy walk from Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade and the quieter paths of Utsubo Park, so a guest can trade neon for trees inside ten minutes. All 337 rooms carry bathrobes, slippers, minibars and espresso makers as standard, and pets are welcome, a detail that puts business travelers and dog owners under the same roof. Downstairs there is an indoor pool that works whatever the weather, a spa with massage and sauna, and a 24-hour gym, plus four restaurants including OH. LALA..., which runs a French menu, alongside two bars and a poolside bar for the slower hours. Meeting planners get access to 6,296 square feet of event space across four rooms. Breakfast is not included, priced from roughly 4,800 yen for adults, and a 20,000-yen-per-day damage deposit is taken at check-in alongside a parking fee of 5,000 yen a day, figures worth knowing before arrival rather than after. Staff speak English, French, Chinese and Arabic, and the property holds Green Key certification, a sustainability mark with actual standards behind it. This is built for someone who wants Osaka's density and shopping on the doorstep but refuses to compromise on space or sleep, not for anyone hunting a traditional ryokan hush or a bargain rate. The extra square footage is the argument. W Osaka pairs 431-square-foot rooms, unusually large for a Japanese hotel, with an indoor pool, spa and four restaurants two kilometers from Shinsaibashi. Pets are welcome, and the building only opened in 2021. It suits travelers who want downtown Osaka without living out of a suitcase.
