THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Palazzo Venart Luxury Hotel
Arrive by water at Palazzo Venart and the first thing that greets you is a private pier on the Grand Canal, tucked behind a private garden in the quiet Santa Croce sestiere, ten minutes on foot from the Rialto Bridge yet away from the routes most visitors follow. Behind the restored fifteenth-century facade of the former Palazzo Bacchini delle Palme, eighteen rooms and suites are spread across three floors, each one built around a different chapter of Venetian history rather than a repeated template. The detail that separates this address from the rest of the city is GLAM, the in-house restaurant run by twice-Michelin-starred chef Enrico Bartolini, the only kitchen in Venice currently holding two stars. Breakfast, bar and cafe service round out the food side, with vegetarian and gluten-free options available and a concierge on hand for reservations elsewhere in the city. A conference hall covers small business gatherings, and the front desk speaks English, Italian, French, German and Spanish. There is no parking on site, so this suits travellers arriving by water taxi or on foot rather than by car, and small dogs are welcome for a fee, though anyone with a larger pet, or expecting large-scale resort amenities, will find the eighteen rooms here too intimate. What Palazzo Venart offers instead is quiet: eighteen rooms mean no queue at reception, no crowd in the garden, and a table at GLAM that feels like it belongs to the house rather than to the public. Check-in runs from 3pm, check-out by noon, and the Grand Canal is close enough to hear. Eighteen rooms behind a restored Grand Canal facade in quiet Santa Croce, built around a private pier and a two-Michelin-starred restaurant found nowhere else in Venice. It suits travellers who want scale small enough to disappear into, not those arriving by car or with anything bigger than a lap dog.

THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT

Your taste already has an address

Behind Palazzo Venart's noble facade lies an enchanting private garden that leads to its own pier directly on the Grand Canal, a rare amenity among Venice hotels. The greenery offers a quiet retreat from the city's bustle, while the private mooring provides an exclusive water entrance for guests arriving by boat.
