THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The St. Regis Venice
The St. Regis Venice opened in 2019, a design-forward build rather than a converted palazzo, and it shows in a garden where Gio's Restaurant serves Mediterranean food under the trees, the kind of outdoor space most Venice hotels, boxed into old buildings, simply don't have room for. It has 185 rooms across seven floors, and some of the Grand and Standard King rooms come with their own terrace and a canal view; the largest suite runs to 678 square feet with a separate terrace and outlook most hotels here only manage from a shared rooftop. It sits about a kilometre from the centre, an easy walk to Santa Maria della Salute, Teatro La Fenice, and the spiral staircase of Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, close enough for daily use, far enough to skip the worst of the crowds. There's a spa for massage and body treatments, a proper gym, a library, and a conference hall for guests mixing business with the trip. Staff work in English, Spanish, Italian, and French, pets are welcome for a nightly fee, and the hotel holds Green Key certification, a detail that rarely gets a straight answer elsewhere in this city. It suits people who want space and modern infrastructure alongside their Venice view, not those chasing frescoed ceilings and creaking staircases for their own sake. Breakfast is buffet-style from 7 to 11, room service runs around the clock, and the airport transfer, at 120 euros one way, is arranged rather than left to a water taxi queue. What stays with you is the garden. In Venice, that's the rarest amenity of all. The St. Regis Venice opened in 2019 with a garden few Venice hotels can offer, plus canal-view terraces and a proper spa. It suits travellers who want space and modern comfort with their Venice view, not those chasing frescoed ceilings for their own sake.

Your taste already has an address

Through the St. Regis 'Live Exquisite in Italy' programme, a St. Regis Butler can arrange a private motoscafo tour along Venice's waterways to Berengo Studio, a working glass art atelier, followed by a bespoke champagne sabrage ritual. It is an alternative to standard sightseeing, built around craft and ceremony rather than a checklist of landmarks.
