THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
H10 Palazzo Canova
Coffee arrives at the window table with the Grand Canal already busy below, gondolas and vaporetti crossing paths a few steps from the Rialto Bridge. H10 Palazzo Canova occupies a restored 19th-century palazzo, its 61 rooms spread across four floors, updated with contemporary lines but never so hard as to erase the building's bones. Murano glass fixtures and Venetian textiles thread through the public spaces, a deliberate nod to the city outside rather than a generic hotel fit-out. What sets it apart from the string of canal-adjacent hotels nearby is the rooftop terrace bar, open to guests for evening drinks with the Grand Canal laid out below, a vantage point most neighbours can't match. Rooms run from a compact Superior Double Room to a Junior Suite and a Standard King Suite with Extra Bed, useful for families who can also call on babysitting and a dedicated family room category. The staff switch between English, Spanish, Italian and French without missing a beat, and a concierge desk and tour assistance handle the logistics of Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo or Teatro La Fenice, both an easy walk away. It suits a couple wanting a landmark address with real architectural weight, or a small family who'd rather book a family room than shuffle between two. It's less suited to anyone chasing a resort pool or spa circuit, since neither is part of the offer here. A separate cleaning tax and a buffet breakfast fee, roughly EUR 15 to 25, are settled at the hotel, not folded into the room rate. The Biosphere certification means the sustainability line is independently verified, worth something in a city that now charges day-trippers just to visit. A restored 19th-century palazzo on the Grand Canal, steps from the Rialto Bridge, with a rooftop bar few neighbours can match. Rooms run from compact doubles to a family suite with an extra bed, backed by multilingual staff and Biosphere certification. Better for architecture and canal views than pool time.
