THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel Sina Palazzo Sant' Angelo
Arrive by water and the hotel meets you at its own private boat wharf on the Grand Canal, a rare comfort in Venice, or come the ordinary way through a pedestrian entrance between the Rialto and Accademia bridges. Hotel Sina Palazzo Sant'Angelo sits in the historic heart of the city, close enough to the Frari, the Confraternity of St. Roch and La Fenice to reach on foot, yet it stays a private, patrician address rather than a thoroughfare. Twenty-six rooms across four floors keep it small: multilingual staff learn faces fast and arrange a boat transfer rather than pointing to a generic map. Breakfast is set in a room lined with Venetian boiserie, or in the newly added garden when the weather cooperates, and the lounge bar's canal-facing tables, with gondolas passing below, are where the day tends to close. Rooms include a bathtub, an indoor fireplace, bathrobe and slippers, and the largest suite sleeps up to eight. This suits a couple wanting a quiet central base with genuine water access, or a traveller who values staff that remember preferences over gimmicks. It suits less anyone counting every euro: the one-way airport transfer runs 440 EUR, an extra bed adds 90 EUR a night, and Venice's own access and city taxes apply on top. Pets are welcome, and a doctor and massage service are on call, but families relying on structured kids' activities will find little beyond babysitting on request. What stays with you afterward is not the antiques, it is the private boat wharf, still a rarity in a city built entirely on water. A palazzo on the Grand Canal with its own private boat wharf, between the Rialto and Accademia bridges, twenty-six rooms and staff who speak six languages. Good for a couple wanting quiet and real water access; less good for anyone tallying transfer and tax fees. The garden is newly opened.

Breakfast is normally served in a room lined with Venetian boiserie and fabric wall coverings, but during the warm season guests can instead take their first meal in the hotel's enchanting secret garden. The setting turns a routine breakfast into a quiet escape from the surrounding canals and crowds.
