THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Sarojin Beach Resort
Full-length windows in each residence at The Sarojin frame the coconut groves and the Andaman Sea beyond, and breakfast, ordered a la carte with sparkling wine, keeps running until six in the evening for guests in no hurry to start the day. The resort holds direct access to an eleven-kilometre stretch of white sand on Khao Lak's coast, about an hour from Phuket International Airport, and sits on ten acres of garden threaded with lotus ponds and sala pavilions, holding just 56 residences rather than blocks of standard rooms, so the ratio of staff and space to guest stays generous. What sets it apart from other resorts on this stretch of coast is its Michelin Two Keys distinction, awarded in 2024 for "an exceptional stay," a recognition few properties nearby can claim. Days run toward the water: an outdoor pool with a spa tub, diving and sailing off the Similan and Surin Islands, cycling and mountain-bike trails through the national parks that ring the property, and the Pathways Spa reached by a boardwalk over the estuary, its open-air pavilions built for treatments with Thai herbal oils. Diners get vegetarian, gluten-free and diet-menu options alongside the main restaurant and bar, and half board is available for anyone who wants dinner settled before arrival. Couples chasing a honeymoon or an anniversary will find the pace suits them; anyone travelling with a full family, or wanting nightlife within walking distance, should look elsewhere along the coast. What lingers after checkout is less the contemporary Asian design than the sense that the garden and the sea were arranged around the guest rather than the other way round. On Khao Lak's coast, an hour from Phuket airport, The Sarojin holds an eleven-kilometre private beach, ten acres of garden and just 56 residences, adults-only. It earned Michelin Two Keys in 2024 for "an exceptional stay," a distinction few resorts on this coast can match. Built for couples, not families.
